Convert PowerPoint to YouTube
I recently looked at an interesting product called iSpring (Convert PowerPoint Files In A Flash), since then I received a notification of a product called PPT2YouTube by Acoolsoft which is a free application, available online, which will take your PowerPoint presentation and re-format it into MP4 format (640×480 at 30fps) ready for publication to YouTube. Currently up to version 2, this looks like an interesting product which can extend the functionality of PowerPoint for publishing self running presentations on YouTube.
To run this software you need Windows Media Player 9 installed on your computer because to perform the conversion the software loads PowerPoint, runs the slideshow and records the information it finds.
To test software I ran a 32 slide PowerPoint presentation and kept the default conversion settings – slide processing took around 6 minutes (including processing and encoding) which is reasonable for what is involved in this process. You can keep a check on progress using the handy Task List and if you have a particularly time consuming conversion process you can set the software to automatically shut down the computer so you can set it going over night.
Once conversion is complete you are presented with a summary screen offering a link to the finished MP4 video, a link to the upload section of YouTube, the option to play the video and a link to start a new project.
The software did what it described and produced an MP4 video based on the PowerPoint presentation. You will need to consider any timings you may have on your PowerPoint slides to allow for the automatic transition from slide to slide but overall this is a handy bit of software. You can download it from the Acoolsoft at Free Acoolsoft PPT2YouTube.
A number of other, paid for, software products are available from Acoolsoft including
- PPT to DVD Slideshow
- PPT to Video Slideshow
- PPT to Flash Slideshow
