Quick Tips For The Palm Pre

Having had the Palm for a few months now, here are a few tips for operating the Palm Pre:

Palm Pre jasonslater.co.uk To quickly reset the device, something akin to a Windows based Ctrl, Alt and Delete, hold down the Orange button, the “Sym” key and the “R” key – keep them pressed until the phone resets.

To navigate within text input fields hold down the Orange button then use a gesture (swipe left or right) to move the input cursor.

To highlight and select in a text input field hold down the Up arrow (Shift) on the min keypad and gesture (swipe left or right) to highlight. To use Copy, Cut, and Paste put one finger on the gesture pad under the screen and press the appropriate key (C,X, or V) to copy, cut, or paste text.

When editing text fields, to delete words at a time hold how Shift and press the Left Arrow (Backspace) key on the mini keypad.

Press and hold the Orange key, then hold the “Sym” key too and press P. When you go to you Photos, you will have a new folder called “Screen captures” with the screen grabs available.

When typing messages the Palm Pre does like to capitalise the first letter of a sentence. When it does this simply press the Left Arrow (Backspace) key on the mini keypad to turn it back into lower case.

To get a few more features out the built-in Calculator you can press the Spacebar on the mini keypad – this lets you use the percent sign, square root, plus/minus, and memory minus.
