Frankenstein’s monster started out as a gentle soul with good intentions. However, he met a fateful end after being somewhat misunderstood. Even the confused Doctor himself turned upon his own creation in the end.

New Windows 8 Touch Based Interface

This concept of the struggle of Dualism is often one that makes for a compelling story but could the same be said of a user interface that aims to please everybody and everything?

Windows 8 Start Page - Microsoft ImageOn the one hand we have a new touch based (and we mustn’t call it Metro) live tile arrangement. The interface, is actually pretty good, and shows distinct possibilities for a finger driven mobile environment.

The friendly looking live tiles are somewhat akin to the large icons that have been the mainstay of modern graphical interfaces for some time.

A key difference being there is now a start page not a start button. Windows 8 makes these icons (tiles) dynamic so they can be regularly updated with images, text, or both. The tiles are quite chunky and the interface suits a finger. More importantly, compared to previous offerings, it suits a finger on the tube and train which is sometimes all we can muster during a busy commute.
