UK Solar Panel Installations On The Rise Again
Solar Panel installations are on the rise again following a severe dip in installations during the early part of November – according to figures released by the UK DECC (Department of Energy and Climate Control).
At the end of July the number of weekly installations reached a peak (11,173 recorded for the week of 29th July 2012) then dropped significantly to the lowest figures recorded this year (just 718 for the week commencing 12th August 2012).
Since then the figure has been slowly climbing to 3,318 recorded for the week of 28th October 2012 before dropping again only two weeks later (841 for the week of 11th November 2012). This fall was most likely driven by the reduced feed-in tariff rates confirmed by Ofgem for November 1st 2012.
However, the last few weeks has seen a steady climb in sub 50k installations to reach the latest figure of 1,615 installations for the week of 2nd December 2012. It is to be expected that the figures will naturally drop during the Winter months and should pick up again in the first quarter next year.
These figures are based on the collected information by the DECC relating to the number of sub 50kW solar photovoltaic installations (typically home solar panels) recorded on the MCS (Microgeneration Certification Scheme) Installation Database.
