Review: HomeMonitor Indoor Internet Security Camera
In The Box: HomeMonitor Indoor
In the box you get the camera itself, a wall-mountable stand (with fixings), power adaptor (with fitments for UK, Europe, and USA), network cable, and a Quick Start Guide. The HomeMonitor also comes bundled with 7 days of online recording.
The camera unit includes a 310,000 pixel 1/4” CMOS with 60 degree viewing angle which, whilst not high definition (at just 640×480 pixels), offers reasonable image quality for everyday use. Infrared night vision is also included (up to 15m) utilising a whopping 30 infrared LEDs. The unit also includes a built-in microphone, Wi-Fi, and Ethernet connections. Power consumption is just 3.75W.
Physically, the camera unit is small, and very light, bigger than you might expect yet compact and externally the unit is thoughtfully designed with a gloss white plastic casing rounding things off very nicely. The angled stand feels solid enough and allows the camera to be placed on a flat surface and it supports the unit well – although, for practical use, you might to consider mounting it up out of the way somewhere.
The included 7 days online recording is good to see and means you can get up and running without any additional cost. It also means the HomeMonitor website will store up to 7 days of captured footage which can be accessed remotely (either using a browser or a mobile app). Although for the more security conscious an annual service plan offers 30 days of unlimited storage.
