What Makes One Mobile App Successful And Another Fail?
Mini Case Study: First Aid Quiz
To put the infographic into context and as an example, a few months ago we spent a great deal of time designing and coding an app, First Aid Quiz, for the iTunes App Store. First Aid is something we feel is vitally important and the aim of the app was to inspire people to refresh their first aid knowledge.
Being called upon to respond to an emergency situation is something many of us hope never happens but being armed with some basic knowledge can literally make the difference between life and death.
First Aid Quiz was made available for free (our first ad-supported app) and was launched on 15th April 2013 where it received 289 downloads, mostly over a few days, the next month 673 downloads, and in June it received 415 downloads. This gives a total of 1,377 downloads to date (to 30th June 2013). The App is a universal app so it works on iPad, iPhone, and iPod Touch.
We made two updates to the app, one on April 25th, and a second on May 14th. We have a third iteration almost ready which should be submitted to the app store soon. The average wait time for submission to review and approval was around 5 and a half days.
