Google Piloting Fibre To The Home?

The Nexus One doesn’t seem to be the only bold step from Google this year as they spread their wings from providing software only services. James Kelly, Product Manager for Google’s Infrastructure Team, announced recently via a YouTube video that Google plan to build and test Ultra high speed broadband networks in the United States.

The latest news is that Google plans to provide Fibre To The Home (FTTH) at speeds of up to 1 Gbps in selected areas across the USA – to potentially reach up to 500,000 people.

Google are calling for states, counties and city officials to step forward and volunteer their area to get involved in the service.
