Brand Indexing The Social Media Web With Famecount

Some interesting statistics came along today from Famecount.com, a service utilising data from Twitter, YouTube and Facebook to track well known brand coverage, which identified the top ten consumer brands across social media networks. Names you might expect appears in the rankings including Starbucks which appeared at the top spot, closely followed by Coca-Cola, Whole Foods Market, Skittles, Oreo, and Red Bull. The current rankings show Skittles sliding up the chart nudging ahead of Whole Foods Market.

Another top ten list, this time of media, sport and game brands on social media networks, places Texas Hold ‘em Poker at the top slot – largely driven by it’s popularity on Facebook, followed by Mafia Wars – another popular Facebook gaming application. Facebook itself appeared third, followed by CNN, Twitter, then NBA.
